About Us
Built on service. Driven by mission.
A veteran-owned company turning an environmental problem into American-made products that help hospitals, protect waterways, and strengthen the domestic supply chain.
Our Story
Ross Medical Supplies LLC was founded to solve two problems at once. Across the American South, water hyacinth — a federally listed invasive aquatic weed — chokes lakes, bayous, and canals, costing millions each year to control. At the same time, the U.S. healthcare system depends on billions of single-use petroleum-based plastic disposables, most of them imported and none of them biodegradable.
We saw one answer to both. By harvesting invasive water hyacinth and converting it into biodegradable molded-pulp medical products, we remove biomass from our waterways and replace imported plastic with American-made, compostable alternatives — manufactured domestically and supplied by a veteran-owned business.
Leadership
Ross Medical Supplies is led by founder and CEO Michael Ross, a 13-year U.S. Army Combat Engineer veteran with a Master of Business Administration. His military service instilled the discipline, logistics expertise, and mission focus that drive the company today. Michael also founded The Future of Our Kids, a nonprofit delivering clean water, renewable energy, and STEM education to communities in Kenya and Nigeria — work that first introduced him to the potential of water hyacinth as a manufacturing resource.
Research & Partners
We are advancing the feasibility of U.S.-harvested water hyacinth as a medical-grade manufacturing feedstock in partnership with university research institutions in Texas and a proven commercial bioconversion process. This research-backed approach ensures our products meet the performance and safety standards required by healthcare buyers.
Our Values
- Service first. The same commitment that defined our founder's military career defines how we serve our customers and our country.
